Sarah Walkley, our principal designer and artisan, has 20 years’ experience in working with glass, serving her apprenticeship in Siena, Tuscany under one of the foremost painters of Italian stained glass before working in London and finally returning to her home town. She is regularly commissioned to design and make significant windows for churches and public spaces. Sarah has designed and built six windows for St Mark’s church, Natland, worked with classes of school children on windows for their library and is designing a three lancet window for Kendal Parish church. Sarah has also taught and inspired many work experience students who have gone on to careers in glass design.
Mark Browne trained as a joiner before joining Northern Lights as a partner in time to take part in the full restoration of the five lancet West window, Kendal parish church. Since then, he has designed and built many windows for houses throughout the country and won the commission to design and build a new three lancet window for Barnard Castle School Chapel.
